Athens presents a lot of classic rock ‘n’ roll at DeLand | Culture & Leisure

The Petty Hearts bring their nationwide tour to the Athens Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 24 to celebrate the music of Tom Petty’s incredible 40-year career.

Mr. Petty’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee band Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers were early performers of Southern rock and Heartland rock of the 1970s and 1980s, touring nationally and internationally until his death. in 2017.

The tradition is continued by The Petty Hearts, who have performed on Live Nation, iHEART Radio, House of Blues, Hard Rock Café and on national television Tribute Wars USA. They’ll play many Heartbreakers hits, including “Don’t Do Me Like That” and “Free Fallin.”

With a two-for-one concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, Athens hosts the ultimate tribute to two of the great “Arena Rock” bands of the 70s and 80s: Boston and Styx.

With searing guitar riffs, vintage synthesizers, a punchy rhythm section and incredible vocal harmonies, Renegade & Smokin’ deliver a high-energy performance. Expect to hear hits like “Too Much Time on My Hands,” “Come Sail Away” and “Renegade” from Styx, and “More Than a Feeling,” “Amanda” and “Long Time” from Boston.

The Athens Theater is located at 124 N. Florida Ave. at DeLand.
