Bring me the horizon has evolved quite a bit from their deathcore debut in the mid-2000s to a sound much more suited to arena rock which has done the band quite well. In an interview with The Pulse Of Radio, frontman Oli Sykes said it was important that the band moved from their roots to a place “where people love music and it’s not about weight”.
He also expresses a pretty bad opinion of modern rock and adds that modern rap is basically new rock or punk, depending on how you want to look at it.
“Rappers are almost new rock ‘n’ roll or punk or whatever. Rock has gotten mellow, it’s gotten miserable and boring, there’s not really much exciting about it. so important that we go through, because we feel more out of place. a place where people love music and it’s not about weight. “
Is there at least some humor in the fact that Sykes thinks so little about modern rock when he and keyboardist Jordan Fish were hired to write the new one? Bizkit box record in 2017? Then again, who knows what sound they would have gone for.
