Summer in the City has taken a step closer to bringing the festival back to Steinbach’s main street.
The Friday June 17 headliner was announced this morning.
“We’re so thrilled to be able to get them because they’re really wanted,” Pollock says. “The band is Absolute Queen. They’re a Queen tribute band. They’re probably the best Queen tribute band in North America.”
Saturday night has a country theme and the Hunter Brothers will be ready to entertain on June 18. In fact, they have been ready for a few years.
In December 2019, it was announced that the Hunter Brothers would headline the 2020 country show for Summer in the City. They chose to honor their contract even when the dates were changed, more than once.
Worship in the City will return to the main stage this year for a full day of local gospel and other religious performances.
Online application forms have been posted on the SITC website. Pollock asks vendors, artists and performers to start submitting nominations and listings. Deadlines are fast approaching.
The earliest deadline is April 1 for Culture Performing Artist applications.
Pollock says they also need lots of volunteers to make the festival happen. The sooner people sign up for the many volunteer shifts, the easier it is to finalize the schedule.
