PREMA Racing’s Dennis Hauger has spent more than two years on the official F1 road, so it’s high time we got to know the Norwegian driver a little better.
We caught up with the reigning Formula 3 champion, who talked about his idols, named the song he always listens to before getting in the car and explained why his favorite quote is: “I never lose, either I win, either I learn”.
WHERE DO YOU VIEW YOUR HOME?
“I grew up in Norway in Aurskog, which is in the east between Oslo and Sweden. It’s a quiet and peaceful village, without too many people.
“There was room to race quads and motocross – it was pretty nice growing up there. I got my first quad when I was two, motocross at four and go-karts at five. I could never have done these things if I had grown up in a city.
OUTSIDE OF MOTORSPORTS, WHICH ATHLETE DO YOU ADMIRE?
“A Norwegian by the name of Karsten Warholm. He competes in hurdles and currently holds the world record. I like his attitude, and he’s also a nice guy. My dad is another one, even if it’s somehow related to motorsport, he was always there for me and he taught me a lot.
HOW TO RELAX AWAY FROM THE TRACK?
“To be at home in Norway. It’s quiet and peaceful, so it’s a good place to disconnect, which is important between race weekends.
WHAT’S ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
“Being a Formula 1 driver is everything.”
WHO DO YOU FEEL BEST WITH ON THE F2 GRID?
“Since last season, Arthur Leclerc, I have enjoyed spending time with him at PREMA. I also like working with Jehan (Daruvala) so far and I think we can continue to develop that during the season.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL?
“Honestly, I don’t eat a lot of junk food. I love burgers, tacos, and baked potatoes with beef, but I don’t think about it much.
WHEN DO YOU WANT TO COME BACK AND TESTIFY?
“From a career point of view I would go back and look at my Formula 3 season and what we achieved. Other than that it would be cool to go back and see the parts of my childhood that I was too young to remember.
IF YOU WERE NOT A DRIVER, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
“My whole life has been racing. Maybe if I had focused on something else instead I could have been good at something else, but it’s always been racing – that’s always been my main focus and nothing else comes to me. in mind.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SERIES OR FILM?
“I’m watching The Big Bang Theory right now, it’s just easy to watch and switch off. I don’t really watch a lot of movies.
WHAT WAS THE LAST SONG YOU LISTENED TO?
“It’s not the last song I listened to, but one song I always listen to before a race is Hell Yeah by Rev Theory, which is a rock song. It’s always the last song I put on before getting in the car. It’s more routine than superstition. It’s always rock before a race and it’s the song that goes last every time.”
YOUR DREAM BIRTHDAY CAKE?
“A double layer marzipan cake with bananas and strawberries.”
YOUR FAVORITE RACING MEMORY?
“There are a few in my career so far, including karting moments, like winning the junior and senior classes. However, of all, I would say the F3 title is my biggest achievement so far. ‘now.”
WHAT IS YOUR MOST EXPENSIVE PROPERTY?
“My first trophy from my first race victory. I was only eight years old and have kept it ever since. It was on my home track, which makes it more special.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE QUOTE?
“I never lose, either I win or I learn.”
“This quote is on my helmet. It’s about learning from your mistakes and never doubting yourself. Always keep moving forward.
WHERE WOULD YOU GO IF YOU CAN TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD?
“I’ve always wanted to go to the Maldives for a vacation, but honestly, as long as I’m on a tour, I have a great time.”
