In a new interview with The evening norm, Noel Gallagher has opened up about his thoughts on the current state of modern music. It’s not good! “There’s a lot of shitty pop music these days that devours everything by the minute. Alternative thinking is on the way out. They just don’t make good copy.
He’s kind of right, especially if you look at the current list of British pop/rock stars. They all seem to be linked by their labels:
Is it a coincidence that all the independent labels got bought out by the majors and things started to get boring? I remember the Brits in 1994 – we were all screwed up with drugs. New names like James Blunt, Ed Sheeran and Jessie J — they rely on [record] Labels. The bands I grew up with had a lot of indifference and contempt for their labels. Let’s go.
